In 1983 I started my small company Halcyon, a family-run specialist plastering company with my sister Mary and brother-in-law David (Div, my first apprentice, now director. We took on a couple of 16-year-old apprentices, David and Joe. Not long after, Mary’s daughter Linda joined, followed by Mhairi, Lauren, and Christine. Then my daughter Milli came on board to enhance the office staff and help with marketing.
Over the decades, with help from our excellent tradespeople, we have built on our reputation as one of the finest Ornamental plastering companies in the UK. Always looking for talented youngsters to join our team, we have trained many fine craftspeople over the years. David, Joe, Russell, Atti, and Paul have been with us for decades. We brought in many other first-class crafts people.
Another first-class craftsman Tom joined a few years ago. He, alongside Div, David, Joe Paul, Russell, Atti, and I, ensures our apprentices learn their trade from the best.

Halcyon Reinstatement Services Ltd
Over the years, we were continuously asked to carry out other building work.
Due to how small a team we assembled, we could choose which projects we wanted to be involved in as long as we felt we could carry out repairs to the same standards we set ourselves. We took multi-trade jobs on, and the majority of work we got involved in was bespoke renovations and high net worth insurance reinstatements. We then built a fantastic reputation for completing first-class work in the insurance sector, mainly in high-end properties, always emphasizing service, quality of work, and cleanliness.
After moving to larger premises in Rutherglen, Glasgow, I found that we had more capacity to expand. This also coincided with me selling my 50% share in another insurance reinstatement company, Stellar Building Solutions Ltd, which meant I could entirely focus on Halcyon.
We were receiving so many requests from repeat customers, loss adjusters, architects, surveyors, and private individuals to carry out multi-trade work that it made sense to branch out with a sister company to allow that side of the business to flourish. This is why Milli and I started HRS.
HRS ltd offers the same level of commitment to quality of work and service that the ornamental side of the business has been renowned for over the years. At HRS, we focus on completing high-quality work in all aspects of building development and insurance reinstatement projects.
