Cornice repairs Glasgow

Fire Surround

Part of our remit was to create a very large feature fireplace to be the focal point as customers entered the Bar.

Client: Andiamo Milngavie

Category: Projects

Location: Glasgow

We worked with the customer to create something out of the ordinary using large plaster corbels and leaf enrichment’s we had to hand from previous restoration jobs,  our MD John Gallacher then designed the mantle and legs to suit the customer’s wishes, the end result is quite stunning and the customer is delighted.

Cornicing

The customer wanted us to fit a very large ornate cornice but rather than going to the expense of designing and fitting a bespoke cornice, we fitted  2 stock cornices together which costs considerably less than a  bespoke item, more cornice for less outlay!

We used one of our larger stock cornices, large Honeysuckle in conjunction with our large Acanthus leaf stock cornice.

We have fitted stock cornice like this on many occasions, sometimes lighting is added as can be seen in The Ghillie Dhu section of our gallery.

When a customer requires this type of cornice it should be noted that a carpenter is needed to fit a subframe to take the new mouldings.

Pilasters and smooth teardrop detail.

We designed very deep fluted plaster pilasters with capitols that were fitted in the bar area, these pilasters were designed to incorporate particularly deep fluted details. although deeper and wider than we would normally design considering the dimensions of the piece they did look very effective when completed and painted.

We formed moulds to meet the Interior designers requirements which were to produce a smooth circular tapered detail to conceal a structural steel column.

The plaster detail fitted to form a smooth teardrop detail was fitted as per the designer’s wishes.
